What size drill bit should I use as a gauge when dry setting the float level on my carb? |

As a ball park setting I run my float level and parallel with the top of the bowl. Each carb is a little different measurement depending on the weight of the float (1/4 ounce vs 1/2 ounce). The light brown foam floats are 1/4 ounce and the dark black coated floats are 1/2 ounce. I just bought a new black one last week for $10. Some rebuild kits have a gauge for measuring upside down float height... See: http://www.joescarb.com 5516 - 186th Pl. SW Lynnwood, WA 98037 (425) 774-5504 for 1920 rebuild parts/kits..... Once assembled and running your suppose to measure fuel level by taking the power valve top off, (3 screws) and measuring from the top of the opening down to the fuel for a 27/32" depth. By doing the wet measurement you verify the float height setting. |
