My uncle passed me an old Chrysler Corp Performance Handbook put out by Petersens and the "editors" of Hotrod. I just read the section about Pete McNicholls' '37 Willys and the mods he did to the 170...(most interested in his tuned headers/length selection for his custom H-pak intake, and his cam choice...he indicated that ram length and tuning of the headers gained 6hp and dialed the intake to match the exhaust as well...but that was for a 170/183cid). Web search didn't turn up much, what happened to Mr. McNicholls from Hazel Park, Michigan? I figure that his G/G win in 1961 extrapolates to him being in his 70's or 80's if he is still around. Would anybody be able to fill in the blanks after the 60s? Just curious, thanks. -D.Idiot |

Last I knew Pete was still alive and well. I met him at Clay City a few years ago. Not sure if any of the cars/parts survived though. Seymour or Doug probably have more info. |
