Have 'em for B/E body too.

Look good, modern design with fewer thick leaves, they give the spring rate as 130 lb/in which is always hard to determine (try calling ESPO and asking, LOL).

Includes front hangers that raise the eye a little...

A little on the pricey side but on one of the boards I read that they are having a sale this month.

Overall an interesting choice. Nice to see some new parts for our cars.

Interesting. The website sys those springs only fit 67-up A-bodies, but I thought that the rear leafs were interchangeable at least back to 63?

Those look pretty heavy to me. 130 lb-in is a good street/track rate with a lighter car.

Firmfeel also sells leafs and can probably specify rate.

H'mmm…"lowers vehicle one inch". Seems to me most of us who need replacement leaf springs for our A-bodies are hoping to lift the rear of the car back up where it belongs, not lower it! :shock: So I'd want to know "one inch relative to what?".

And yes, the A-body rear leaf springs go all the way back to '64 with zero mods, all the way back to '60 with the '60-'63 mount plates.

Lou, whatever happened with those mono-leaf composite springs you picked up? As I recall there was some dispute over spring rate (maker didn't want to comply with your specs) and also some length/fit problems?

1" lower than stock= 3" higher than existing original springs. The ones I have now look like I can just turn them over and be back at stock height. :roll: :lol:

Yeah, that is why I am going with the six leaf high-lift rear springs from JC Whitney for my brother's Duster!

Make sure to check them as soon as they arrive; seems JC Witless sometimes gets it wrong.

You may also want to check with JCW's source for these, John R Spring, and see if the JCW price is really better.

The leafs look nice, cheaper than I would have thought. Magnum force has a 2" drop leaf for $549 a pair :shock: I think I'll stick with the stock leafs and use the 3" drop blocks I got with 2" drop spindles up front.

So I ordered a set. Discount price is $328, which seams totally reasonable to me. According to Hotchkis, they are designed to go with torsion bars around 1.00" dia. I suppose I'll order a set of the just siuspension ones because they seem like the best deal.v

What car are you putting these on? Please let us know how they work for you. And how'd you get the discount? I wrote in asking about the 1" drop and they wrote back to say that drop is built into the mount bracket, so if stock height is desired a stock bracket can be (re)used.

I'm putting them on my 64 valiant sedan. The stock leafs are a joke. Ithas some old helper springs on there but my best guestimate of the combined rate is well under 100 lb/in.

I have .870 v8 torsion bars out of the junkyard on front now but just ordered up some 1.00 bars from just suspension. I had a V8 Dart years ago with the no longer avail .998 MP bars and they weren't harsh at all. Considering the rates modern cars run, even a 1.00 bar might be bordeine soft. of course we have a lot more chassis flex than
modern cars.

I wonder if the picture on the Hotchkis web site is accurate as I count more than 4 full leaves and a couple 1/2 leaves on the front? The 1/2 leaves should do well to prevent spring windup and wheel hop. Not that our cars suffer from this like old Mustangs do, but it is nice to keep the pinion angle correct.
