If you read my prev post, I have been working on fixing a few carb related problems on my stock 86 non feedback, un-lean burned truck. So far, so good. Until it got colder. Seems like these brisk mornings are causing (exacerbating) a chugging while under load. The chugging happens at around 3000 and continues until 3500 rpms, at which point it just stops. Mind you, 2 weeks ago, no problem.

Also, when the slixer gets all nice and warm, the problem stops entirely.

Thanks for the feedback
Josh

What is your valve lash?

Ted:

I have no idea. I have owned the truck for the better part of 1 1/2 years and never looked into/read up on/adjusted the valve lash.

Does it have a lash adjustment if it has hydralic lifters?

If the motor is the stock 86 motor then thee is no valve lash. Sounds like possibly an ignition miss or a problem in the carb. Hard to say not being there to check everything out.

Choke not coming off properly?

I replaced some of the vacuum lines as they had hardened and became brittle. Motor was still warm, so no chugging yet.

I will check the choke again to make sure. Most likely buy the electric choke with my next paycheck.
