After a non-boosted front disc conversion (4-piston KH) on my '62 Lancer, brake lamp
shutoff on taking your foot off the brake is no longer reliable. Looks like the brake pedal doesn't *QUITE* come up all the way where it used to, with the new master cylinder and stuff. Maybe epoxy a 1/4" nut to
the nose of the switch to extend it?

That would work, but you might also look to see if your switch is threaded. My switches (and replacements I've seen) have long threaded sections so you can adjust the clearances. OR, you could bend the switch mount a bit. It's not too heavy so would be easy to bend.

Slant on,

My '62 (my '65 was the same) has an angle-steel bracket bolted to the dash brace, with a black plastic-bodied switch, about 1.5" long, pressed into the bracket. There is no threaded section. Replacement switches for this type used to come with a new bracket, now new ones are "switch only" and you're supposed to crack/break out the old switch and then install the new, using the push nut supplied with the new switch to hold it to the old bracket. The bracket CANNOT be bent in any meaningful way.

I found in the parts store catalogues the "long threaded section" switch you mentioned. It's called out as the "heavy duty" switch for Chrysler products '65 and up, and also used on a whole slew of other makes. I bought one. Looks like I may need to enlarge the hole in the bracket somewhat, but this will definitely get me the adjustment I need. Thanks.
