My friend uses his '80 B100 slant van for work. He hauls ladders and lots of tools.

833OD

We installed a head that was shaved .060. Polished the chambers, worked the bowls. Opened the intakes 1/8" bigger than the gasket.

Chambers CC'd @ 45

I rebuilt a 78 super six BBD, installed the intake with it.

No air pump, non functional EGR.

I haven't touched the timing (stock setting probably I did it a year ago.)

Regular Champion Copper Plus. He tried to get NGK V Powers, They are listed at the parts store, told they were discontinued.

So far 18.5 MPG @ 75 MPH. Bowling green to Nashville.

He was running mid grade before the new head. Now he is running 87 octane and no ping!

Oh yeah, he needs to air up his tires

He called to tell me he has never felt so much power in his van. He has owned it since it had 8000 miles on it.

Cool beans! Gives me hope for my brother's 83 Dodge van. It will be getting a warmed over head and a spicy cam this winter.

I did the intake ports to create an anti-reversion effect. I wanted to open the exhaust manifold like the intake runners.

THE EXHAUST IS HARD!!! The iron in the manifold was difficult to grind. I didn't have the time to do it. I would recomend taking it to a machine shop and having that done.

Another thing, on the plugs. I set them at .038.

Valves were set cold.

Intake .010

Exhaust .021

The rear is a double tag unit. It is a SG on one tag and 3:50 or 3:55's on the others. Hard to read.

It is an 8.25?

I want to advance the timing to see what happens.

I also need to figure why the choke isn't kicking in.
