I did a complete tune up in August, new plugs, plug wires, points,(have not converted yet) valve lash, nos one bbl carter carb.
Completed a trip to Kearney,Ne. and back 300+ miles--ran great. Since then I drive it a couple times a week. Starts, idles and runs great in the city. On the turnpike today I noticed an occasional miss at 60 mph. This got worse as I speed up to pass another car. Got home and it still runs and idles smooth. Before I start checking things any ideas what to look for first. Thanks

For a points distributor, check the dwell reading and also change the condensor.

Since it is at high speed, I would look for fuel flow restrictions, like a corroded engine fuel line or air getting in the line from cracks or loose hose clamps or maybe your pump is old and can't put out 6 lbs pressure anymore.

Check to be sure the filter was changed, fuel line connections are tight, or maybe some contamination in the bottom of the fuel bowl that floats around and clogs the jet now and then. If you are still using stock rubber fuel line you may have some chunks in the bowl. Need to switch over to fuel injection hose with today's fuel.

Thanks Doc and Ted for the information. I am amazed that my slant started and idled as well as it did. The points were at .016 , the dwell was way off. The fairly new fuel pump was at between 3 &4 pounds. All problems solved and it runs great. Thanks again
