I recently started tearing my 1973 904 apart and when i took the oil pump out a small steal ball bearing rolled out, i read the manual that is linked on this sight and it seems this ball goes on the input shaft kinda shoved in there..and to top it all i lost the ball today :? , does anyone know an easier way to describe the location of this ball and it would be GREAT if anyone could tell me the proper size...

Did you check the 7 digit part # to be certain it's a "73 trans? I've rebuilt about 20 904s and never had a check ball fall out of a pre-78 non-lock up trans.I took apart a '71 S/6 front pump just to double check before I wrote this, and they DO have two check balls in the rear pump half, but they are staked in very well.I could describe it to you,or maybe photo bucket it to your e-mail,but check those numbers first.
