HAPPY THANKSGIVING! i have a aspen with a super six setup, and i want to put it on my '70 duster that has only single setup. do i take the linkage, and throttle cable from the aspen, put it on the duster, and put the linkage, and throttle cable from the duster on the aspen? is it that easy? i know i need new gaskets, and that stuff that goes on the threads, but is there anything else? plmk guys. pm's em's, or post. thanx |

switch out the kick-down lever on the trans . You might have problems interchanging the automatic choke, and throttle cable also. |

Swap the whole setup (intake and exhaust manifolds, carb, air cleaner, entire kickdown linkage including the lever on the trans) and you'll have no trouble. The only possible "gotchya" is the throttle cable. You need the shorter 2bbl throttle cable, but depending what year your Aspen is, it may have the square plastic fitting at the firewall end rather than the round metal end your '70 firewall would accept. This isn't a big obstacle; you can buy the correct throttle cable new (cheap or costly, depending on what quality level you want). There's no performance-based reason for swapping the exhaust manifold, it's just that the '70-'72 exhaust manifolds have a choke stove setup not compatible with the 2bbl choke thermostat. Any '73 or later exhaust manifold will accept the factory 2bbl choke thermostat. Don't fail to wire the choke heat modulator in series with the ignition-switched +12v feed to the choke thermostat heater. Me, I don't mess with the factory choke stuff; I prefer the fully-adjustable Electric choke kits (still need to swap the manifold, tho). |
