Post subject:  Which fan is best for my project

I need some input on getting a fan for my project. I'm putting a 78-79 plymouth slant six into my 51 International L110 pickup and I would like to know what fan will work best. This is what I need to know which one will work better (12V electric fan, fixed fan, clutch fan, flex-type). My next guestion how far from the radiator do I need to keep the fan.

I would go electric, simply a personal preference. If that's the way you go then you'd mount the fan directly to the rad. As for engine driven fans I would say clutch is the way to go for less parasitic drag off Idle. If memory serves me there is about two inches between my engine driven fan and the radiator.

Post subject:  Fan's

I have been using a ProComp electric fan the last 4 years. It works great! The engine warms up quicker in the mornings since it is not constantly blowing on the engine, I get better fuel mileage, the engine stays much cleaner and I do not get heat soak or carb problems after engine shut off since the fan will kick on as needed to cool the carb and engine. The entire electric fan mod was less than $100 using all new parts.

Click on the red link below to view pictures of the electric fan set up. Double click on the photo when it comes up for full screen slide show mode.
