Looked in the normal places and can't seem to decode my 60 Valiant.
Did find on the title, that technically it's not a Plymouth. Built during that short time when Valiant was a separate line.
If somebody could, that would be great. I'd sort of like to get a build date for the Wagon. It must be about to turn 50.
VIN: 1702222611
Thanks All

I don't know about decoding '60 VIN's, but you might find a ballpark date stamped on the backside of the interior door panels.

Quote:
VIN: 1702222611
1: Valiant
7: V200 wagon
0: 1960 model
2: Built in Detroit
222611: Vehicle serial number; this is the 122,610th vehicle built.

The build date is not encoded in the VIN. As of a couple of years ago, you could send $45 and your pre-1968 car's VIN to

Chrysler Corporate Historical Collection
Attn: Historical Information
One Chrysler Drive
CIMS 488-00-00
Auburn Hills, MI 48326

and you would receive by return mail a photocopy of your car's build record. I have no idea if it's still possible or if there's anybody left at that office to do so, but I've got an e-mail in to them to find out. Will report their reply (if any) here.

Just got a reply:

=====
Hello Daniel,

I have attached an order form for a build card. The fee is $45.00 for certain year vehicles. Some years, I do not have code sheets available, therefore, can only provide the build card. If you could tell me the year of your vehicle, I can let you know what I have. The payment has to be in check or money order form, made payable to Chrysler Group LLC. We also require proof of ownership.

If you have any questions, please let me know.

Thank you!

Thanks Dan.
I'm in Florida this week, the whole working thing you know. Should be back to Oregon late next week. I'll save the link for the decode service and get it sent off then.
Thanks again
Richard
