The 4-speed swap is almost complete. Once my driveshaft arrives I can drive the thing. The clutch is a stage 2 Spec which has a diaphragm pressure plate. The first time I stepped on the pedal it went to the floor and stayed there. I thought that the over the center spring was optional when using a diaphragm pressure plate. The pedal is very light so that shouldn't be a problem, but they are so hard to get back on I'd hate to remove it and have to reinstall it later. Any input or tricks to getting it back on should I have the need? |

You wont need it on for a diaphragham plate. YOu will only need it if you go back to the 3 finger plate - Just keep it in the attic and a tire iron is your friend for the uninstall / reinstall. Greg |

Thanks. The pedal pressure is so light now I can't imagine I'll need it. Can't wait to drive it! |

how well do you expect the diaphragm pressure plate to stand up under normal usage. never used one on a slant six, always the borg and beck 3 finger type. been thinking of it the next time i do a clutch job. they are noticeably softer to step on than the original equipment. have heard rumors that they dont last as long. thanks bob f |

It's a stage 2 Spec clutch, it's supposed to be good for 550 foot pounds of torque. Since that's about 10 times what the 170 puts out now I don't think it'll be much of an issue. |
