i cannot find a valve cover gasket that fit's my /6. Engine is a frankenstein of different years. From my trials of trying to find the right one I keep reading and being told that all /6 valve covers are the same but this does not seem to be the case. I do not find any casting numbers on the head. This is a good running engine that I just want to change a leaky valve cover gasket.

All slant-6 valve cover gaskets are not alike. There are two different forms: one for '60-'80 heads, and one for '81 and newer heads. If you've been trying gaskets for any application before 1980 and they don't match up, get a valve cover gasket for an '85 Dodge D150 truck with 225 engine and it'll fit.
