2-20hp, 5-30 ft/lbs, depending. Or it may even be a loss.

Care to tell us more about the car/truck/van you have? What mods if any have you already performed to the engine? Do you plan on installing a new exhaust system? What are your feelings toward manifold heat and cold driveability?

its a 2bbl d150 pickup i plan on putting dual exaust or a y pipe building it myself its a 225 out of 79 diplomat with 90k. there true dual headers

Stock 2bbl 225, OK. Does your exhaust manifold mounted choke work and if so would you like to keep it that way? How big is your current exhaust and what kind of muffler?

If the truck were mine I'd probably just build a 2 1/4" exhaust system off the stock manifold and run it. You'll gain very little on a stock engine with headers.

Toss the headers in the trash and stick with the stock manifold. In a truck you won't get any value worth noting from steel headers. A couple of hours cleaning up a stock exhaust manifold cleaning the flash off the outside (good for your fingers and knuckles!) and gasket matching the ports is all you need for a truck. The cast iron exhaust manifold has only one real weakness and that would be weight--they seal better than tube headers, sound better, and they last longer. If you simply must have a dual exhaust or something similar than Dual Dutras are worth looking at. Headers are simply one of the most over-rated products pitched on the car enthusiast crowd...

Headers always have been and always will be one of the best bang for the buck modifications you can do.

Hookers are about the best header going for a Slant. Since your motor is mostly stock make sure to get the small tube version, not the larger Super Comps.

Can't give you a number on them compared to a stock manifold, but I have seen a dyno sheet comparing them to a 6X1 Mopar header back to back. The Hookers were worth 25 lbs./ft. of torque.

They should put out some good low end torque at low rpms. Don't go too big on the exhaust......dual 2" or a single 2.25". I would run at least a 12" collector but not longer than 16" before dropping down to 2" duals or a 2 1/4 Y pipe.

If you upgrade the cam and compression they will provide allot more HP compared to just adding them to a stock engine.

Is this truck for hauling loads or looks....long bed? or short bed toy?

If your going to use it for hauling decide which way you want to go, single or duals. A long collector length before the Y pipe will help with low end torque. I would run about 12" or more back and then Y them together for the least expensive set up. Don't just run 2" for duals or 2 1/4" pipe for s single right off the header....allow for a descent length collector for the most torque. Allot of people miss the opportunity for creating more power from there headers this way and it is not expensive to do.

sorry i didnt read ur question properly. theres no currrent exaust and the exast manifold choke works. i donno if i wanna keep it not sure what it does

What Josh is getting at is; You're going to loose your thermostatically controlled choke, and there won't be a mechanism to feed heated air to the carburetor to assist with atomization.

Changing to headers may make cold engine/weather drive-ability more of an issue. Warm up will be more of a chore, as the engine will not want to idle until it starts warming up.

If your OK with baby sitting the car for a couple of minutes, keeping it running, then don't sweat it. If you want to be able to fire the engine up, give it a couple of squirts with the accelerator pump, hop out and clean the windows while it idles, you may have a problem.

Headers may cause jetting issues. Generally, your going to need to richen up to match the increased flow. Your timing curve may need attention as well to avoid detonation issues, and maximize efficiency and power.

There is no such thing as a "Bolt On." All aspects need to play well together. Bigger engines mask mismatches with cubic inches. Small engines suffer profound running issues. You will notice issues much more readily than the V8 boys will.

Save yourself some money and grief and just do a nice 2 1/4 " single exhaust with a good muffler. You will be much happier in the end.

Take the money you save and put it into a head.
