| Post subject: | Engine Coolant Sender |
Rock Auto is mixed up on which engine coolant sender fits which years. I'm installing a '79 Aspen engine in my '64 Valiant, and according to their catalog, I need a TS17. The threads on that part number will fit my old '64 engine, but they are too small for the '79. The '79 trucks used part number TX7, which appears to have the thread size I need, but I'm not sure if my '64 gauge and that truck sender are compatible. Anyone have a Standard catalog that might clarify this? I can probably find a thread adapter, but that would raise the sensor out of the coolant flow area. It might not be a problem, but that's not the way it was designed. |

Are you certain you're not attempting to put the gauge sending unit in a hole for a vacuum switch? The later heads I've dealt with still used the 1/8" NPT temp sender, but it was moved toward the driver's side and rearward. The later heads also had larger holes for a temperature sensitive vacuum switch. |

No, there are only two holes in the head and both are the thread size of the heater hose nipple. Maybe the vacuum switch body was tapped for the sender? |
