Popping back through the carb sounds like it could be a timing issue. |

I vote for TIMING/IGNITION. What type of ignition? Points? Electronic? Vacuum advance? If it won't idle, tough to check for a vacuum reading... |

How about firing order? Firing on all 6? Just trying to eliminate the easy stuff. |

Your '78 Volare should have electronic ignition. I agree with the others who have said that it sounds like a timing/ignition issue. Welcome to the site! |

yes i have checked all vac lines on motor and i have pulled all spark plugs and replaced them with new . also checked tdc on compresson stroke disturbutur is dead on it is electronic but sounds to me to be skipping a beat here and there . will idle in park but after a few min dies out but wont idle at all in gear just dies the only thing i have not done is rebuild the carb which was new 3 years ago but sat for a year while motor was worked over can adjust mixture screws in and will kill motor so dont think carb is clogged tempted to slap a points disturbutur on it and go old school see how that works |
