| Post subject: | junk yard Proportioning valve |
I am going to be running some brake line this weekend after I go to the junk yard to find a proportioning valve for my car. I have a 64 barracuda and I have done a 1976 disc brake swap with a 1976 power booster and master cylinder the rears are still drums. what is a good year and model to get a proportioning valve off of at the junk yard. I know the about the adjustable ones but would like to save a few bucks. Thanks Joe |

'73-'76 disc brake A body would be the best choice, but realistically most any A body unit '67 and up will work. It is not really a proportioning valve, just a distribution block with the brake pressure switch in it. |

The '76 A-body proportioning valve that I had was very different than the old brass distribution block and warning light switch found on the older cars. It's a real proportioning and hold-off valve unlike the older stuff. There is one in Parts For Sale right now. http://slantsix.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=38654 I would seek one of these valves. They are likely the same or similar all the way through the end of rear wheel drive passenger car production. I'd look at the F-M-J cars if you can't find a late A-body proportioning valve. |
