ok guys i have a 77 volare, with the 225 supersix, with the lean burn in it. I was wondering if the leanburn sytem is robbing me of power, i dont know anything about it. Would it be possible to remove the lean burn system? Heck would it be worth it to remove it? any advice would be greatly appricated. The car runs like a champ, just doesnt have very much power, i was thinking about changing the motor out to av8, but everyone i talk to says these slant sixs are bullet proof, and i should leave it in. It has factory ac and only 45K orginal miles on it, im just looking to get a little extra power if possible. Thanks for any help, Dante. |

Yes, and maybe. Do you have to smog check your vehicles? There are options you should be able to find with the search function on this board. There are lots of options available, so look around, visit the FAQ's and Articles sections.. Welcome! CJ |

Welcome to the site! I have a '78 Volare with a slant six. It did come with some emissions equipment, but not lean burn. Depending on the laws where you live, it is fairly simple, and worthwhile, to convert your ride to the more conventional electronic ignition system. Check out the article on this site. Your Volare and mine should be just about identical under the hood, except for the lean burn. Post some pics of under your hood if you can. Come back to this site often, you're among friends here! |
