That’s right, Zolatone, the speckly looking famous for doing vintage Airsteam interiors and hiding the roughness of fiberglass boat interiors. I just finished making fiberglass bed lid for my d-150 and I'd like to coat the underside with Zolatone but I know how expensive the stuff is. I told by a guy once that it was invented by a guy that mixed three kinds of paint together that had no business being together. I'm sure I must have the raw material, a whole room full of old paint we really need to use up. Any Ideas would be appreciated. Bruce

Can't help you with the Zolatone issue, but would like to pick your brain a bit about how you fabbed up that bedcover.

I have a project in mind that's more complex, but your methods may be what I need.

How did you do the rough frame for it, and did you use screen or hardware cloth for strength across that rather large expanse, then lay up the mat and epoxy resin?

Roger, books have been written on the subject.but I can help a little , epoxy is expensive and used mostly for aircraft. polyester is what you want about 25 bucks a gallon materials for my deck lid and female mold cost about $400 .started with some abs pipe of differant sizes cutsections that conformed to the bed sides of the bed,cut a piece of mdf for the flat area, a 4" section of pipe made the spoiler shape use what works brace the mold solid like a pallet profesional bondo skills are a must don't use fiber glass on the mold if you dont have to, avoid situations that make you grind the glass. and don't start alarge project with no experiance even my bed cover is a large layup for one person ato do please do some reading I only type with one finger. They sell Zolatone at my local Napa. Why dont you just check yours out and see if they do too. Or are you after a special color or somthing?
