Doc,

I think it was you that said the F-Body oil pan could use a little "dent" at the centerlink area when used in a 60-66 A-body. I can't find the message when I search, but I was wondering if you had a picture of one that was modified to work correctly. Or even just an idea of the depth/ placement would be great. I'm getting one of these from Lou and would like to modify it before I get ready to put the motor in my Valiant.

Thanks,

Rick

Do you have the V - 8 centerlink on the Valiant... that helps alot.

I will see if I can shoot and post a photo or two... seeing that I have nothing showing the mod work, currently in the "photo file".

We are talking about the "369" pan, the blue one in the photo below.

Yes, that is the pan Rick will get. The massaging could be done with a hammer with the pan bolted to a block, or a better way might be to cut a section out by the drag link and weld in a raised section.

Post subject:  Center link

I do not have the V-8 center link.

I was thinking if a knew the proper location I could heat the bottom of the pan with a torch and gently roll the area in with a piece of 2" pipe. I'm sure I can make it work.

Sounds like a good idea. Again, I would bolt to an old block to keep the rails straight.

The left front corner of the sump also needs be dented in about 1/2" or it will hit the k-member. I just cut the piece out and weld in a flat piece of 16g steel.

If you run the V8 center link you don't need to "massage" where the center link crosses over the pan, otherwise it is about a 1/2" dent.

Post subject:  Ebay pan

Well, one showed up on E-bay so hopefully I can get that one. I'll still need yours Lou because the auction doesn't end until after the banquet I think.

Thanks for the info,

I'll bring to banquet in any case, and you return to me at Hagerstown if you don't need it.

Here are some photos showing both places where the "369" pan needs denting.
The orange pan with the bigger / deeper dent in the rear section was used with the shallow SL6 centerlink.
