only one i`ve seen that fits that description was in a detroit gasket set from a local supplier
it work just as well as any other i had. my bore was only 0.080 over.

Putting my new motor together,.104 overbore.I want 12.1 compression.Have 5 different head gaskets and the one that fits best and is the perfect thick ness is a old new Fel pro that someone gave me.Its three layers of metal,looks like aluminum in the middle with a goldish finish on both sides.Does anyone have any experience with these?,pros cons.I called Fel Pro and the kid said the number on it was the same as there new composite ones.Kid said new ones had to bee better or they wouldnt have changed them,,,,,maybe they changed them for cost reasons.Any thoughts?Guzzi Mark |

It definately is stamped Fel Pro and there is a 7918 stamped in it,My gut feeling is to spray it with something and try it.Guzzi Mark |

I have one of these but have never used it. I would think that the new fel pros would be better. A new felpro is what I am using and My engine is 12:1 as well. Mike J. said this should work fine but anything over 12:1 might create issues. Greg |

Go to Autozone and get a tube of Hylomar sealer, coat both sides, and torque it down, call it a day. At 12:1 you'll eventually have gasket issues no matter what gasket you use.

At 12:1 you'll eventually have gasket issues no matter what gasket you use. Doubt you'll find Hylomar at any chain autostore anymore.... (haven't seen it for years) But you can get it at a Harley Davidson dealer... part number 99653-85 ($16) Unfortunately it seems they have realized they're the only place that sells it; got a tube a couple of years ago for $10........... |

Hylomar is still available from various vendors. I bought a tube from Valco Cincinnati at the same time as I bought one of their Tube Grip dispensers (a really terrific tool!), a Peeler (haven't had a chance to try yet) and a tube of their all-in-one aluminum RTV (which is really nice to work with — the only such gookum other than Mopar RTV that I've found to be this easy to work with). Permatex also offer it, and this outfit say they're the official importer. |

Pep Boys and Autozone both carry it here. When I worked at Hyster we stocked cases of it. It was the only thing we used on Continental head gaskets. |

I have decided to use this old un known gasket,Fits the best, is all metal sandwich and is .040 thick.Going to spray both side with Permetex copper cote.Torque Arp studs to 75lbs let sit a couple days,re torque to 85.Fire it up and do 5 Heat cycles,let sit overnight re torque to 85.Drive car keeping it under 5000 rpm,retorque to 85 then go to track and run it to 6000 a couple passes.Retorque to 85 adjust valves,change oil and go to Vegas to ring its neck out.Hopefully you wont see me and Doc under the hood in Vegas changeing out a head gasket.I will have several different spares.Guzzi Mark |

Lou,didnt really like the fit and thickness.Beeing overly picky,I will have them as back up if this one doesnt work out.Will be torqueing to 65 lbs not 85 like I thought.We will see.Mark |
