my carb is a 1945 holley and it has a #199 main jet. When I get it emissioned here in utah it is a little rich and won't pass. I was wondering what jet you would recomend to make it a little leaner since i can't find any numbers like the one on my jet to go off of. |

That is the wrong #. If it were true that jet would be huge! In 1974 they came with a 612, jet a close tolerance 61. You could install a 60 all the way down to a 58 to lean it out. |

I wonder if that "199" is really an upside-down "661", which would be an enormous jet. |

The #1 can't be upside down cause it looks just like this (1) not just a one. I have done the HEI mod and 2 1/2 inch exhust but not much else. I am at an elevation of about 4500 feet. Can I try any of those jets as trial and error or does anyone have an educated guess as to which one I should start with. Appreciate all the help you guys give. |

Well, start with a new #58 jet (you can't buy the 3-digit jets in the aftermarket) and see how you go with it. Or if the whole carburetor's questionable, install a better one. |

Send me a PM with full detail about your car and I'll see what I have in stock. Do not buy a "remanufactured" carburetor; they're junk. |

The Jet that had a 199 on it when measured was close to a 64. I put a 58 in it and it passed emissions perfectly. Thanks guys. |

Now that you have passed emissions...stick a #60 in it and drive it with some power... |
