I'm in the middle of wrenching down my 1975 Plymouth Scamp with a slant six b/c I threw a rod last spring which ended up blowing a hole in the side of the block the size of two golf balls from the journal bearings getting so hot it burned off the elbow. This six had a very worn rear main seal that used 1 quart of oil per tank. After referring to my repair manual I've come to the conclusion to take the block down to my local machine shop and see if they can repair it. I'd much rather use the same block v.s. another due to metal familiarities within the cylinder walls, rods etc. Does anyone have any experience with repairing holes in the block? |

Just find another engine and rebuild that..not worth the trouble. |

Find another engine, strip all the parts of that one (spare parts are good to keep around in case you come up short somewhere). -D.Idiot |

Scampsix, Where are you located? There might be someone in your area, from the board, that can offer you a deal on a decent running used motor, or a good rebuildable core. |
