awesome, that means i can save some $$$ on headwork as this one is ready to go and spend those bucks on the good pistons. thats a smidge higher than i wanted to go, but thats just something i will be forced to live with. thanks, andy.

What are you doing for 80 over pistons?

block is at .060 over at present, plan on using the weisco pistons.

ha-ha, knew it wouldn't take long for you to ask me something i don't know (not hard to do!). i assume you mean wrist pin. what is the variable here? using stock 198 rods if that helps.

Correct me if I'm mistaken, but I think the 198 rods are too long to use with stock type pistons. Most people use the 2.2L 4 cyl pistons.

i am going to use the protrus, i included the measurment off the stock flat tops for reference only.

Protru = Wiseco piston

As far as I know, the special metric "long rod" piston Wiseco is making for the 7.005 rod length SL6 have been made in 87.5mm & 89mm sizes. Let us know if they are now offering other sizes. (you will want a 88.25mm)

Once you start thinking about the long rod 225 you have to use metric piston sizes. This combo uses the following size range.

87.5mm = 3.445 = .045 Oversize
88.0 mm = 3.465 = .065 Oversize
88.25mm= 3.475 = .075 Oversize
88.5 mm = 3.485 = .085 Oversize
89 mm = 3.504 = .104 Oversize

I ran your proposed number with a .045 compressed head gasket and 6 cc of valve notch that are in the protru pistons and came-up with 9.7 "ish" static compression.

You are on the right track.
Long rod Slants work great.
The Wiseco Protru pistons & rings are top quality
Getting mid to high 9 to 1 static compression "out of the box", without head or block milling give you lots to work with... more options.

With standard 225 engine builds (6.7 rod lenght) I am always looking for ways to get a little more compression into the build. With a long rod engine, I tend to look at ways to take a little compression out, which is a much better problem to have.

after reading quite a few posts here, i seem to recall that 3.485 is a size that is offered and what a lot of people have used. i will be grtting these ordered later this week and will let you know what they have. i believe brian nutter is the contact here for the weiscos? my machine shop measures the pistons before they do the boring to ensure proper fit as opposed to just "80 over" standard bore.

Most of the race guys are using the .104 over. But I have both, you won't be sorry.

they sell the .080 stock cast at summit with pins for 11.97 each!!

the real question is where to get .1 over!
