i did a little searching, and in an earlier post a few of you mentioned how the stock 1 bbl choked the motor off at 4000 rpm. is a 2 bbl good for a few hundred more rpms? also, i am hooking my slant up to a dana 44 with 3.07 gears. is this a good gear for the slant, or do i need to do some shopping? thanks. |

Most with a tight timing chain and stock cam won't turn past 4K, no matter what carb you put on there. As the timing chain loosens up, they will spin a bit faster. The cam is retarding under load. This moves the envelope the engine operates efficiently at, up. It's also flirting with potential disaster. Degreeing the cam allows you to adjust where the engine makes it's power without running a worn out timing set. By moving the "Power Band" up, you loose on the bottom though. I've seen 1bbl slants making power up aournd 5000 rpm. It's all in the cam timing. CJ |

I really like the 3.07 ratio in my street car, puts the engine on the "sweet spot" at 70-75 MPH. DD |
