In my opinion, it is just a more expensive, and time consuming way to seal the splice, then a normal butt connector (which this system still uses) with sealant inside a heat shrink insulator. |

I like the butt connectors without the insulation. Crimp, solder, heat shrink... (RTV under heat shrink for a really good seal. Only the thickness of the heatshrink larger in diameter. |
