My truck is a 1982 d 150 and i have a lean burn computer on it and want to replace it. I talked to my mechanic and he said he would do it for me all i need to do is get the parts. I read the artical on the converson but the parts list on the page didn't give any parts numbers, help!!!!!!!! |

Ignition part numbers and instructions for the ignition can be found HERE You will need a distributor form a standard electronic ignition truck or van form the 70s. Try and find a vehicle similar to yours in weight and gearing. For a carb I recommend finding a good condition used or new Holley 1920 or Holley 1945. |

That part number pulls up a reman distributor. The last word I heard about the reman distributors was that they were coming out of China and were machined improperly and wouldn't seat in the block. Also, you have no idea what the spark advance curve is in that distributor. Personally, I would try to find an original distributor either used or NOS before buying a Chinese one. |

thisRebuilding a junkyard distributor isn't terribly difficult. That is, IF you can find one in your area. All the junkyards here have dried up of anything older than 1990. I think there was a guy around this site someplace that offered recurved dizzys, but I may be mistaken. |

Save yourself a lot of hassle and get a new distributor, not a cruddy "remanufactured" or worn-out used one. Source info (and other info you need to do a nice ignition upgrade away from Lean Burn) is in the HEI upgrade thread. |

Chinese Distributors? Would not surprise me if you were buying a "new/complete" one but a REMAN? they are sending them there to be rebuilt? I doubt that. Putting a chinese pick up plate, or drive gear on, during the reman process I can believe.
