Thanks everyone for your help. I looked at my cover and can see form the message sent by Ceej that the tab on mine has been removed. If anyone can help me find a replacement (either the tab or the whole cover), I'd be indebted. Also, just to confirm, any other photos would be appreciated. thanks dan |

Check this photo under the "Articles Section" on the front page "Main Seal Installation and Oil Pan Sealing" . PM sent for your email. I have a picture of my 74 timing tab. |

You could make your own out of stiff wire. loop it around two of the cover bolts and with the engine at top dead center bend the wire to indicate tdc on the harmonic balancer. Best done with head off and a dial indicator. Then use a degree wheel to mark off 5 degrees points both before and after. Or what ever degree points you want/need. Repeat as needed. |

I think I'm having trouble getting private messages out; they seem to stay in the outbox. it's: dan.tanner@ns.sympatico.ca |

Ok, picture of timing tab sent. Where the hole is in the middle is zero, then 10 degrees each way before and after. Let me know if you need more... |
