I don't think the lighter has ever worked since I've had this 62, so I decided to have a look today. Mostly this is for being able to charge my phone.

I undid the screws, the unit comes out. I thought perhaps it just wasn't hooked up, but it appears to be. It looked a bit different back there than what I imagined. There's a socket for the lighter, a length of threaded rod coming from the socket rear and a terminal plug thing stuck on the rod. Then a short length of wire leading to... the fuse box? I unhooked it, blew out the terminals, hooked it back up, but nothing happened. So, this seems like it should be pretty simple? New fuse? I'm about to go back out there and take a look at that, but, what else could it be if it's not the fuse?

I know this is not really responsive, but in my own '62 I have deliberately disconnected the lighter. It's a fat pipe (thick wire) and given the minimal circuit protection in an unmodified '62, I feel using that socket is tempting fate a little too much.

Haha. Well I'm already used to it not working, so I don't lose anything by failing. But I had a closer look, and it's odd... the fuse that's missing is an ACC fuse. It's odd that it's right under the prong that leads to the lighter. The other strange thing is the fuse that says 'cigar lighter' is fully intact. So I don't know what's going on. I think... maybe... I'll just let this lie.
