Do I have to go back to a manual steering box on my '63. The front header hits the inner top of the gear box... What to do? ,Cliff |

First of all is your name really Cliff? That's a cool coincedence. Second of all, worst case scenario is that your might have to take it to a local exhaust shop and see if they can re-bend it a little. |

Make sure your motor mounts are in good condition, and haven't sagged. Maybe add a little bit of a shim to the driver side mount. |

We see this problem in the 60-62 A- Body chassis. On the last one of those, we removed the driver's side motor mount nut, jacked the engine up and stuck a piece of 2X4 (actually 1 1/2 thick) into the interference location, lowering the engine onto the inserted "shim". Then we heated the header tubes with a tourch, did a little "pushing and prying", until the engine/mount re-settled onto the K-member... with the shim still in place. Jacked-up the engine, removed the wood shim, lowered the mount back into position and we had clearance. DD |

" into the interference location" I take it you mean between header and gear box? If so, easy I have a torch. ,Cliff |
