June 2005 - My 17 year old asks what I plan to do with my first car (74 Dart Sport) which had been in storage since 1990. "Well, can I have it?" So we borrowed a trailer and moved it 100 miles to a location near us. August 29, 2005 - Hurricane Katrina destroyed the barn where my car previously sat unmoved from 1990 to 2005. 2005 to 2009 - Countless hours spent restoring just about every item on the car. Finally got the car running after months of trying. March 16, 2010 - Front and rear windshields installed. March 17, 2010 - DMV reactivated a 1974 license plate. March 19, 2010 - My son and his girlfriend home for college Spring Break driving around in perfect weather with the windows down causing turned heads and people wanting to know "what year is it?" A few pictures follow: http://i247.photobucket.com/albums/gg14 ... IM0146.jpg http://i247.photobucket.com/albums/gg14 ... IM0147.jpg http://i247.photobucket.com/albums/gg14 ... Time for another project. |

Nice! I remember you having a problem with the ignition not firing. What did that ever turn out to be? |

Of all the ridiculous items to prevent the car from firing, it was the little L-shaped bracket that sits on the inner fender near the washer bottle installed on 74 (and some 75 models) for the seatbelt interlock override. It had a short in it. It is still on the car, however the wire harness is not connected. The mechanic who finally diagnosed the problem advised me not to reconnect it. He believes it was also frying all the ballast resistors I went through.

Way to go, Randy!! Excellent job on the car. We need to see some shots of the rear and the interior now. Yep, you can chalk that one up as lost to your son. Go get another project for yourself. |
