I have a 61 Valiant hardtop and want to know if there was a hood locking accessory. If so, where could I source one.

I know of one Valiant owner who lost his hood while travelling at high speed - not properly closed and resulting in a nasty and expensive "mess".

Thanks

There was no hood locking accessory offered at the time; if you want one you will have to cobble one up on your own.

The hood latch has two latched positions for the prevention of the situation you describe; sounds like your friend's hood latch was faulty. If your hood firmly clicks twice on the way down to "closed", you don't need to worry about the exceedingly unlikely, remote possibility of a hood flyback.

Sorry couldn't help myself,Dan is right of course you should hear/feel the 'safety latch' as the hood is closed and you;ll need to finger it over when opening.

I used to have a problem with batteries vanishing in the night (bad neighborhood). I used a set-up like 6shotvanner's, except the chain looped over the catch bar on the hood, and dangled down in front of the radiator, and was padlocked somehow underneath the bumper. Then they started taking the radios until I painted one pink. White hood rats FTL. :(
