RJ i made a swap putting a 340 72 model in a 65 barracuda cruse in car. I had to put in a yoist bushing in the end of the crank so the early converter 65 904 would work. Also i think there was a spline change on the transmission about 72. But get more input on this before you try it i could be wrong. thanks Ron rpracing@catt.com |

Note that the A-Body oil pan and pick-up tube changed in 1967 so you will need to use the 64's pan and tube. The auto transmission is also different so it is best to use the transmission already in your 64. This is a cable type trans used for the push button shifter, the later AT is a mechanical linkage / slip-in yoke unit which would require many differnt parts in order to use in a 64. As noted below, the hole in the back of the crankshaft used to support the AT torque converter "nose" got bigger in 1968, so you need a spacer ring to "fill-in" the gap and keep the converter centered and supported. Ed Yost / Wildcat Wrecking has this adaptor ring for sale. http://www.wildcatmopars.com You will need to use the flexplate from the 72 engine. Everything else bolts right in. DD |
