Post subject:  Automatic to manual trans swap

I have been debating if I should get this /6 OD 4speed out of a van from one of the local muder/Lion members for about a year now and I am just trying to see if anyone out there has swapped a stick into an auto vehicle.

I am a little concerned with the z-bar and other clutch linkages and if they are permanently attached to the frame or can all of it be removed. I have a truck, so it may be different then the cars or the van.

Linkages and the clutch pedal assembly al bolts in and requires some work to get it all undone and transferred. The key player will be the clutch pivot ball stud on the driver's side frame, you'll have to make sure your truck has the holes and reinforcement necessary to bolt everything back in without a problem...on cars that didn't come with the "plate"
welded in this location one can be welded in place. I think Trucks use a bracket that is bolted to the frame if I remember right.

Good Luck on the swap.

Thanks for the info.

Like I said I have been looking at possible projects for my D-150. I know where there is a junked truck with all the linkages and pedal, plus the van with the /6 4spd. Then I have a 318 and 727 that I am going to take a look at and make sure it can be used if needed.
So many ideas, so little cash. Hopefully I can get a job over the summer and pay for this project.
