Trying my best to spruce up the engine compartment and have a little fun along the way.

No idea how it will look all back together but it will certainly look colorful to say the least!

Grandpa will most likely roll over in his grave but who knows he liked the Cragars years ago when I used to take him shopping - heh.

Anyway here are a few shots of what I have restored to the best of my ability :)

Cheers!

Yeah the lower compartment area is slowing me up - its pretty shabby down there but I cannot pull the engine and really have little desire to do so at this point.

I will throw some pics up as things progress - it is fun cleaning everything up and giving it a little love along the way :)

Want to come do mine next? I rebuilt the engine, so that looks nice, bet everything outside of that is still a mess...

Looks good, the bright colors are fun. You'll be able to see to keep your fingers out of that fan for sure!

I think a yellow engine will look good!
I have to mention this fun fact.......because I "hate" chevys.....I once owned a friends 74 type LT Camaro, only because it was my friends.I put a 350 together.....block was orange, heads were yellow, intake was red, timing cover was teal.I kept the headers black though, didnt want it to look gaudy.LOL
I ended up giving that car back to the kid I got it from, once he grew up.

To be honest I didn't know what colors to paint things - Initially I was going to do stock colors and everything was getting repainted black.

The car is lime green and black looks great with that color. I was trying to decide on the valve cover and almost bought that cheap stainless one and then thought to myself how can a valve cover wroth $20 possibly be any good.....

After hours of cleaning and filling manufacturing defects in the valve cover I was looking over my selection of paint I had on hand. I eyed the yellow which I had bought to restore a gumball machine( which I destroyed with paint and varnish remover...rofl) and decided to give it a shot. It looks good with the green and yes its just plain fun.

So valve cover, fan blade and the two dipsticks are yellow, the block is cast iron gray and all the other parts will be gloss black as well as the compartment.

I cleaned up two of the 3 wiring harnesses and had some orange and yellow tape in stock and they look great. Some of the new hoses will be blue silicone and a few small after market chrome parts.

I still need to source fuel line for the mod posted here and I am thinking over the HEI mod as well.

Thanks for all the great info guys - couldn't have done it without you :)
