So it's funny how a $10 part can ruin the drivability of a car. I got my o2 set wired and running yesterday. Drove home from my friends house(15 mi), got to my and rejetted according to what I saw on my gauge. I went down on the primaries and backed the vac advance off a few turns.

She was running superb, the secondaries were a hair rich. Got a few miles from work and started smelling coolant. Kept moving got it to work and parked, opened the hood and the fan belt had come off, not broke. Came back out to the car at break put the belt back on and started it. Well if you have ever heard bolts in a coffee can, ya it was like that but intermittent. The list of things I thought of ranged from pump impeller to oil pick up falling off.

I ended up getting a free tow from a buddy w AAA. Got home and did my autopsy, come to find out it was a $10 part, the F#*&ing flex plate to crank bolts came loose. The flex plate holes are now slotted so I'll be getting a new one for $10.

The good part is that now I can rebuild the trani since it will be out and I've had the kit for a month or so. I was waiting to get my head back and do it all at once(head, cam, reseal motor and trani). I guess I will be starting sooner that planned.

Hey Bud, sorry to hear about the FLex Plate. Is the O2 sensor on the '64? Can I ask why and what does it do.

He has installed a wideband o2 sensor to help with fine tuning is carb. its gives him real time mixture as he drives. there expensive but well worth it. just ask the guys running turbos, superchargers, or nos.

Yes 75 is right, it's on my '63. It cost about $220 and the control unit records data and other types of moduals can be hooked up to it as well. I just have an analog gauge that changes in real time w the mixture and throttle movements. It's pretty cool, you can see it become stoic right in the cruise range when the vac advance kicks in. And you can see it richen on the primaries(acc pump) and see when the secondaries kick in. It will be very nice when I get to the tuning point again. lol You can get an rpm mod for it and it will plot your map then you can rejet accordingly. I think I can just go about it based on the gauge.

And I will be getting a beefier flexplate since I'm in there and it needs a new one anyhow. So I may be in a lil more than a $10 part.

Having the wider bolt circle for the 12 inch converter,it might be too wide for a 904,and fail to clear the starter nose.
