Post subject:  motor mount removal

New guy needs help! I got the driver's side off, and the underside of the passenger's, but can't get to the top two bolts to remove the mount and arm. I've tried raising the engine, but it goes straight up. I need the engine to roll about 30 degrees to get to those bolts, and the oil pump, which is what started this whole thing. The front of the car is up on jackstands, I don't have a lift. I considered putting the driver-side mount back on loose, and trying to raise it again, using the mount to rotate the engine, but am leery of doing so. It looks unsafe, and also may torque the driver's side bolt over.

Suggestions and thoughts? Thanks again!

Try jacking up the motor (good wide support under the pan or an engine hoist) unbolt the 2 side nuts and remove the mount block. That will give you room to get the 2 bolts for the bracket.

Leave the drivers side attached so it's a pivot point when lifting (I'd use the old mount)

Got it, finally! Used a piece of 4X4 between the alternator and the inner fenderwell to get the tilt I needed.
