Hone plates are good, how thick will yours be?

I made it 6" X 2 1/2" X 26". I wanted to make it exactly as thick as the head bolt holes so I could use the same bolts I am building the engine with, but it was getting too expensive. Besides, I'll probably be milling the heads differently every time anyway, so I'll use different thickness parallel ground stud washers under the plate's bolts to simulate the particular engine's head bolt thread engagement.
I've made small block and BB plates before, but this is going to be the most expensive one by far.
I hate to get off topic on this thread, Doug, but has anyone ever tried increasing the head bolt diameters to 1/2" for increasing the clamping force? For instance, a SB Chrysler runs 4 bolts per cylinder and they have torque specs in the 90-100 '# range. I was just wondering, because I've seen head gskt sealing problems on sl/6's with 8:1 compression ratios. What happens when you bump it up to 10.5:1?
