Hi,
I have a 1976 Plymouth Volare 6 cylinder that's been passed down to me.
It's manufactured without a radio and air conditioning (Crazy, being that I'm in Florida)... So I was wondering..
What kind of unit do I need to install the air conditioning to it?
I'm confused as to whether or not I can just install a regular unit, or if I would need something more.

There are companies that have A/C kits, of different types. Most of these kits have a compressor mount for the slant six, that leaves something to be desired.I have redesigned the mount for a better fit. Here is a link to some pics.

I have a 76 with AC and an 80 that came w/o AC. I am debating whether to add it to the 80 as I resto mod it. I rarely use the AC anyways on vehicles I have had that do have AC.

I have a '78 Volare coupe that came with AC, but it's gone now. I live in Texas, and it gets hot here, but the trade off is I have less stuff under the hood, along with one less belt. That's just how I like it, to each his own.

Like Charlie said, there are companies where you could buy what you needed. Or you could do some junkyard scrounging.
