Somehow I have stripped the hole for the u-joint bracket on the 7 1/4 rearend flange.

Can I remove the flange to repair the hole? I would like a machine shop to do the repair without taking the car there on a trailer

Removing the yoke from the rear end is a chore. You're better off getting a Helicoil thread repair kit and repairing it in place.

Thanks for the feedback. I guess that is better than towing it to a lift.
