So I am rebuilding my first 904. I bought a "complete transmission rebuild kit" off of eBay from "Portland Tranny". Turns out that the "complete rebuild kit" doesn't include the thrust washers. The front/#1 thrust washer in the tranny is dead in the middle of spec at .062 inches thick. The #2 thrust washer is worn beyond spec at .058 inches thick. Service tolerance for both washers is .061-.063 inches as per the 1983 FSM. So, where can I buy JUST the #2 thrust washer? |

Thanks Richard, but I managed to locate one locally. Dealer doesn't carry them, Aamco doesn't carry them, two local shops didn't carry them, one placed wanted $30 to order it for Monday, a website wanted $.50 per washer but $11 shipping, etc.... BUT! I found a business, Casey's Trans-Plant, that is locally owned, had one in stock, and they GAVE IT TO ME!!!! So, form now on, my transmission needs will be met by: http://caseystransplant.com/ |

Hi Reed. Take a look at the text following these kits, while your trannie is in pieces, you can do some corrections to improve lubrication and choose the lock-up speed. I am sure your local guy can get them for you if you don't order them on eBay yourself. I ordered from Oregon Performance Transmission, and they gave real good service when asked questions and shipped right away. This is the correction kit, or maybe this larger one. Olaf |

Thanks Olaf. I ordered all my parts from Oregon transmission, including those shift correction kits. Right now, I have determined that my clutch packs and thrust washers are in good condition I am currently looking over the valve body and double checking all the modifications I did when i installed a Transgo Shift Kit previously. I hate transmission fluid. |
