a clunking in 1st gear caused me to pull the 3 speed out of my A108. i found a gear in the bottom with a broken tooth.
when i pulled the input shaft off i got a handful of roller bearings.
does anybody have a blow-a-part diagram for these trans?
how about sources for parts? just any parts store, or someplace trans specific?

D~~~!

Usually these things go for next to free. I'd check craigslist and see if you can find one for parts or one that you could just drop in and not worry about.

I have a few of these gear boxes if you need parts or a complete working unit. Send me a PM.
Does this trans "hang" from a top mount?

yes Doc, it hangs from that single large doughnut.

i found one local to me. i wonder if it could be compatible. the guy says it from a 1946-1952 vintage and has an overdrive. i suspect the OD wouldn't work with my top hanger, but would the innerds be the same?

many years ago my Ford with a Chev V8 used to like eating the cluster gear bearings, requiring the replacement of the gear, shaft and bearings. I used grease to hold bearings in place in the gear while installing the shaft.

thx Fopar.
that's what i was thinking of. also thinking of maybe a wooden/pilot shaft to keep the needles at the far end from dropping as i tap the shaft in.

any thoughts on that?

Yes, the wooden dowel works well... look at any wooden broom or mop handles you have around the shop, those are about the right diameter.
