My son's `72 Dodge Dart Swinger seems to have a choke problem. Won't hold a fast idle. Car "stumbles" on acceleration (cold only). Fine when warmed up. Carb rebuilt, replaced intake manifold, new plugs, wires, electronic ignition, timing correct. Any ideas as to what is causing this? Also car is difficult to start after being shut down for half hour or so following normal operation. Car has 86,000 orig. miles. Where's a good source of Slant Six parts? Thanks in advance...... Review the choke adjustment article and recheck the settings: http://www.slantsix.org/articles/choke-adjust/choke-adjust.htm The hot restart problem could be that the float level is set too high or the needle - seat is sticking or has some dirt stuck in it. Can you see gas dripping into the manifold when you look down the carb. barrel, right after shut-off?? DD Link to the choke adjustment article |
