Mine always starts straight away doesnt get a full revolution and shes running,and starts nearly as good cold and after sitting for a week.49200 miles on the clock,electronic ignition,single bbl carb.goes hard.

The Walker rebuild kit for my Holley 1920 carb came with the typical carburetor-to-manifold gasket, but also included a thicker phenolic type spacer. I didn't install the thick spacer and the car runs just fine. Is there a good reason to install this spacer? |

Yes, less heat soak....and fuel bowling in the carb after shut off. Start ups are much quicker. |

cool...I'll stick it on there. I'm guessing there will be some ever-so-slight adjustments needed in the linkage? Is the thin gasket still needed in addition to the spacer? |

Yes on the gasket, and maybe on the kick down. |

I guess I may be lucky...but my slant starts up blazingly fast when it's thoroughly warmed up. It doesn't even seem to turn over once and it's running...I almost can't turn and release the ingnition switch fast enough.I was always told growing up that an engine in proper tune should jump to life like that, but I've read a lot on this forum about these slants being a bit hard to start when they're warmed up. Again...I guess I may just be lucky. |

That's cool.I always knew when I had my stock Model A Ford in good tune....because I could just ever so slightly tug on the crank and it would fire right up. |

That's the way mine starts up. A portion of a turn on the starter and bang! It is running....If your happy with it don't change it. Many folks aren't as fortunate. |
