Hi, after much machining in my shed, I'm nearly ready to fit the M90 to my slant. What needs to be done with the ignition advance and the power brakes? will the servo cope with positive manifold pressure? should the vacuum take off pipes come from the manifold, or from the carb side before the charger? Help!

My buddy with a 144 roots on his chevy and power brakes just lets off the gas before he hits the brakes. If vacuum doesn't build fast enough for ya in that situation (not ideal) you can switch to manual brakes (mine work great in a fast dart) or get an aftermarket vac. setup that runs a v-belt. They are common on cars with big cams and low vac. for power brakes.

What else are you running off vac. that you'd have time to need under boost?

run you power brake from the carb base or the top adaptor plate for the carb, on this side of the blower you will see lots of vac. as for the timing you wouldn`t need much advance for cruising, you will want less timing under boost 15 to 17 degs with 5-7lbs.on the race car i locked the dist at 15degs with no mechical or vac advance. i haven`t tried it but one racer here on this site was using the vac advance from the intake and setting the timing under vac so when the intake saw boost the timing retarded, i can`t remember if he disabled the mech advance, i think you would have to.

Thanks for the advice! It should be up and running in the next couple of weeks, I'm sure I'll come up with a whole host of new questions then! Terry, your engine has been an inspiration to me, I was going to change the /6 for a 360 (as was originally fitted to the car before I got it) but seeing your motor made me think a blown 6 could make similar power and be something a bit different! Best wishes all, Graham.
