Well my 86 d-150 has been having some electrical issues. The blinkers have been bad since I got the truck, but they already tried to fix it and broke a bolt in one of the pulling points. Then the horn has been screwing with the radio when it goes off. I am just wondering if anyone else has had the radio/horn issue. I havent investigated a lot yet because of the 4th and crap weather up here in the UP.

Could you expand on this “pulling pointâ€￾, what is it? Perhaps during the act of removing the steering wheel, something broke?

If that is the case, you will need to extract the broken bolt from the steering wheel with an easy out, and using a grade 5 or 8 bolt (these won’t stretch & brake) with your wheel puller yank off the steering wheel

If the trucks are wired anything like the cars, weird things can happen with back feeding.

For example:
Years ago when I had my first Dart, I was fiddling around and discovered with the ignition in the off position, and four-way flashers on, and radio in the on position, the radio would play when the four-way’s blinked on if the brake peddle was applied…

I would suspect the blinker switch is not making all the proper contacts, and or, the horn circuit has shorted into one of the lighting circuits which somehow is back feeding the radio. You will need to perform continuity tests to be sure that this is where the problem is.

Tip:
My blinker switch was faulty. The four-way flasher flashed only three lights, and only one of my brake lights was working. Once the steering wheel was removed, I found that by applying pressure on the exposed blinker switch mechanism with a finger, all the lights would work properly. The switch was a flopping worn out mess, so I just replaced it, and everything now works as intended. This may or may not be your problem, but is one function you can check.

I had big issues with the blinkers in my 85 and they still aren't the way I like, the left turn won't go off when I straighten the wheel.
What I did that helped a lot was run a ground wire from the battery to the main ground back there.
Good luck
