Post subject:  Not liking inline tube

I recently purchased from Inline tube, a set of stainless brake lines that were meant to go between a standard master cylinder and a 1976 combo valve. The fitting sizes are 1/2" for the front line on both ends, and 9/16" on the rear line, both ends. The 'custom' lines arrived, and instead of a 9/16" fitting for the valve at the rear line was a 3/8 24 IFM fitting. That meant a trip to the nasty local parts store for an adapter. :P
Bleeding the brakes after a two-month overhaul of various things, the brakes leaked precisely where? At the parts store fitting. The fitting was to go from a 3/8 24 IFM to a 9/16" "master cylinder" port. Is there a different fitting I should be using, or should this seal? I expect better when shelling out half a day's pay for two brake lines. At least they could mention that this case might occur, and have a fitting available. :!:

try calling them , maybe they can mail you an adapter fitting or
mail the correct line with correct fittings.

That's the plan, first thing Monday. Patience is something I need to work on.
Spent all day trying to seal one fitting. Inline tube saved $.09 on their one-size-fits-all junk, so it's not a complete loss.

Stainless lines can be a pain to deal with, specially when old, they are hard and brittle if you need to cange them. For some input on alternatives, take a look here and here.

Thanks Olaf. Next time, I'll definitely make my own lines.
I was finally able to get the 9/16" adapter to work (so far, so good), but it cost me all day Saturday until I took out the valve and put it in a vise.
I sent an email to Inline tube mentioning the recession, and the need for customer service. I haven't heard back from them.
On the plus side, my ability to be patient is getting a good workout. 8)

I put Inline's stainless tubes in my D-150. Perfect fit. I suspect that the pattern piece they used for your application was incorrect--it happens. There customer service is good and I am sure they will fix you up...

I think it was some kind of communication error. Or I was misinformed on the year of the valve. Their rep claims it shouldn't need an adapter. I got the adapter to seal, so I'm going to move forward on all the other things necessary to get on the road. Other than the fitting, the lines seem good.
