I have another question (that I'm a bit embarrassed to ask):
My vacuum advance hose is connected directly to (the) a single port directly on the intake manifold; Is this correct?
I must confess to not having worked on these old rigs for about 20 years, and even though I own no vehicle newer than 1975, they are all motorcycles.
After looking through the bonafide Dodge technical manual, I'm not sure if it is AND from the descriptions of some components within said manual, I think I may have a model made for California.
Any insights?

The fender sticker is gone, and I'd like to know how to determine if this is a California model

Which carburetor do you have?

The vaccuum advance should be connected to ported vacuum on the carburetor.

I provided that info on the original, unedited version of my post...but then I edited it and forgot to include.
Sorry, that is very important info.
I have on my 1972 Dodge D100 Pick Up (L6 225 / Auto) a Holley 1920.
I have an original, bonafide service manual for it, and it is a little ambiguous regarding the specific vacuum routing for this set up.
I assumed that the vacuum advance would go to the carb port, but the port I believe that it is supposed to go to has the hot air valve attached to it (for the air cleaner flapper), and like I said, the vacuum advance currently is attached directly to the intake manifold port. Seemed strange to me.
A similar port on the other side of the carb goes to a solenoid which the manual indicated was outfitted on California models, and I THINK that the V.A. may supposed to go to that...
How do I determine if it is a California model? The breakdown of the VIN, according to the manual, does not include such an identifier.
