Is it necessary to swap the drum brake pedal assembly for the disc brake pedal assembly? I have all the donor parts, but was curious as to if this was necessary. Can the drum brake assembly be used or at the least, can I just swap the pedals? Just trying to avoid some unnecessary work if possible. This is a manual drum to power disc swap. Thanks for any advice given. |

You dont need to swap pedals. Just make sure the rod fits in the Master cylinder. .Cliff |

Thanks. I actually had it mocked up at one time before tearing it down and putting it on the back burner. Everything seemed to fit okay then. I thought that I remembered reading somewhere that there was a difference in the pedal geometry. I might be thinking about rod lengths between manual drums and manual disc. Hopefully I can get back to it this weekend. Thanks again. |

Depends on which car you're working on. Some cars have a different brake pedal assembly for disc brakes vs. drum brakes. |

The car is a 68 Dart. I thought that there could be issues. Thanks! |

Check the Master Parts book to be sure but I think a '68 Dart uses the same pedal for disc or drum. I know that I've worked on light trucks and C body cars that had different pedal assemblies. Sometimes the pedal assembly is the same but there is a second hole for the pushrod so the lever ratio can change. Some A body cars used a complex assembly for the linkage on power brake cars. That whole linkage can be removed and replaced with a simple manual disc brake arrangement. |
