i recently picked up another 225 engine.I plan on rebuilding it 30 over .the plan is a high compression slant. i have a demon 350 cfm with an electric choke, offy intake and clifford headers with a cam which is a 252 intake/exhaust duration ,435 lift. i plan on using the smog cylinder head with hydraulic lifters. I plan on shaving the head but i'm having trouble with piston selection id like to find out what is popular and what will work the best. i'm still in the prosses of cleaning the block and the head. everything is apart in my garage .any help would be great. thanks frank |

Stock pistons will work fine.In my old motor with alot more cam,10.7 compression,a 600 Holley I ran stock 60 over pistons with no problems.Guzzi Mark |

Is that cam a hydraulic profile? If not you'll have to stick with mechanical lifters and adjustable valve gear, but those work fine with the late head. Also, you don't want too high a compression ratio with a short duration cam like that. 9:1 is probably plenty. Less might be wise if it's going into something heavy like a truck or van. |

I agree with Josh 100% on the compression,my compression was too high for straight pump gas and my car was strictly a race car.9.5 sounds perfect for your combo.Mark |

mark how well did that motor perform when you ran the 60 over pistons and the 600 cfm carb? did you have over heating issues?did you do any work to the cylinder head as far as porting and polishing? |

The cam is hydraulic profile. i would would run an mechanical lifter without a smog cylinder head but id like to drive it without adjusting it. |

Performed exellent for a race car.There is a set of sealed power .30 over pistons in the for sale section,very good stock pistons and price. |

i do want a piratical daily driver, but i defiantly want it to have power and have it sound good. its going in my 84 dodge short bed pick up. i do also plan on running a modest amount of nitrous and yes i used daily driver and nitrous in the same post lol just a little something for the mustang crowd

Very very cheap is good,alot of very cheap ones are not good.Sealed Power are pretty inexpensive and good.Be careful.Mark |

mark, i was looking at keith black pistons from summit but i don't know if they will make a difference as far as performance. they might seal better but i have the seal power pistons at work. do you know anything about the k/b pistons? thanks |
